What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When you supply your personal details to You Happy First, they are stored and processed for 4 reasons:

  1. We need to collect personal information about your health in order to provide you with the best possible treatment. Your requesting treatment and our agreement to provide that care constitutes a contract. You can, of course, refuse to provide the information, but if you were to do that we would not be able to provide treatment.
  2. We have a “Legitimate Interest” in collecting that information, because without it we couldn’t do our job effectively and safely.
  3. We also think that it is important that we can contact you in order to confirm your appointments with us or to update you on matters related to your treatments. This again constitutes “Legitimate Interest”, but this time itis your legitimate interest.
  4. Provided we have your consent, we may occasionally send you newsletters. You may withdraw this consent at any time – just let us know by any convenient method.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

We will never share your data with anyone who does not need access without your written consent. Only Alexandra Datwyler has access to your records.

How long we retain your data

We have a legal obligation to retain your records for 10 years after your most recent appointment. After this period, you can ask us to delete your records if you wish. Otherwise, we will retain your records indefinitely in order that we can provide you with the best possible care should you need to see us at some future date.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

You have the right to see what personal data of yours we hold, and you can also ask us to correct any factual errors.

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

We use Mailchimp to send out newsletters, so your name and email address may be saved on their server.

If you have used the contact form on www.youhappyfirst.com your information will also be stored on the server of Typeform who provide the contact form design.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How we protect your data

Your records are stored:

on paper, in locked filing cabinets in a room only accessible by Alexandra Datwyler

electronically on Outlook (if consultation form was e-mailed)

on a laptop and phone, which are password-protected, backed up regularly and only accessible by Alexandra Datwyler

If you have questions about our privacy policy

We want you to be absolutely confident that we are treating your personal data responsibly, and that we are doing
everything we can to make sure that the only people who can access that data have a genuine need to do so.

Of course, if you feel that we are mishandling your personal data in some way, you have the right to complain.
Complaints need to be sent to what is referred to as the “Data Controller”. Here are the details you need for that:
